Ronan Pensec is one of the most renowned cyclists of the 80s. He hails from the western tip of Brittany, a region with a huge passion for cycling. He left his mark as one of the best climbers of his generation.

His flamboyance brought about the heyday of the famous Peugeot team he started with in 1985. His talent for stage-races led him to a 6th place finish in the 1986 Tour de France and a 7th place finish in the 1988 Tour.

He continued his career, still under Roger Legeay’s guidance, on the Z team with Greg LeMond as his leader, who later became one of his best friends in the peloton.

One of his most glorious moments was to wear the Tour de France’s prestigious yellow jersey in 1990.

After answering the call of duty for 13 years, he ended his career in 1997.

Driven by his desire to remain involved in the development of cycling, he never lost touch with his sport. He organizes several mass-participation, semi competitive cycling events, including the “Ronan Pensec”, an event he started in 1993 and which draws 1,400 participants each year.

This cyclosportive is different from others because it is both a cycling and a humanitarian event: the entry fee that each participant pays is donated to the fight against AIDS.

The operation contributes by helping fund the search for a cure against AIDS; treatment options for those diagnosed with AIDS, and educating young high school students. To this day, € 350,000 has been donated to various associations that fight against AIDS.

In addition to the Ronan Pensec cyclosportive, Ronan organizes the “Broceliande”, the “Cyclo Du Pays De Lorient” and the “Balcons De La Tarentaise”.

Since 1997, he has also been working as a France Television consultant for all the big cycling events that the channel broadcasts. His job as a consultant is a unique job in the world of sports television because he consults with the producer and gives him tactical advice on what live images he should select.

On numerous events, most notably the Tour de France, he brings his background to help the TV channels broadcast the best images for an international feed.

In 2003, he started the VIP Cyclotour on the Tour de France.
His goal is to make it possible for cycling enthusiasts to make their most precious dream come true: to be a spectator and a VIP participant of the Tour de France.

A week to live out your passion to its full potential by being one of the few privileged VIPs that will discover the inside of the Tour de France

His experience on the Tour de France - eight times as a rider and ten times as a television consultant - means that he not only knows the Tour perfectly but he also knows the people who work for it.

His mission is to put his knowledge at the service of the VIP Cyclotour participants and to offer them perfect comfort and perfect organization.
