After breakfast, those with bikes will start their ride from the hotel to Verbier (
63 Km, 39 miles), taking the Col des Montets. Those who prefer not to ride will
be taken by our bus to Verbier.
The Col des Montets (el. 1461 m) is a mountain pass in the French Alps in the
Haute-Savoie department of France. It is on the road between Chamonix and
Martigny in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. It lies between the Swiss Col de la
Forclaz and Chamonix.
Once in Verbier, you will stand on “route du Tour” to watch the
“caravane publicitaire” passing by and the riders who will arrive for the 1st time on
the top of the Col in Verbier.
Shortly after the finish, our bus will take everyone back to the hotel in
Chamonix, where dinner will later be served.
A dinner will be served at the hotels restaurant.
3 * Hotel Prieuré at Chamonix
As the Tour de France spends its well deserved second rest day, after 15 days of
hard racing this will give us the chance to explore the area.
After breakfast, you will leave the hotel as a group and head for Martigny where
the riders are spending their second rest day. Martigny is the capital of the
French-speaking district of Valais in Switzerland.
You will have the day at leisure to visit the town. You will see the hotels where
the teams are staying, see the teams’ equipment and fleet, such as buses,
motor homes, etc and look for souvenirs and autographs from the riders.
In the late afternoon, our bus will take you back to Chamonix on time for dinner,
which will be served at the hotel’s restaurant.

3 * Hotel Prieuré at Chamonix
The week you will experience will be spectacular and rich in emotion, as the
program of the riders of the Tour de France will include: 2 high mountain stages,
1 time trial and the mythical climb of the Mont Ventoux the day before the
riders’ arrival in Paris.
The riders arrive in the French Alps, after a well deserved day off, through the
Col du Grand Saint Bernard and the Col du Petit Saint Bernard.
The Col du Petit Saint Bernard is a mountain pass in the Alps on the
France–Italy border. Its saddle is at 2188 metres above sea level. It is located in
Savoie, France, to the south of the Mont Blanc Massif, close to the border with
Italy. There is also a Great St. Bernard Pass and a San Bernardino Pass.
After breakfast, our bus will take you through the Mont Blanc Tunnel and will bring
you to the bottom of the Col du Petit Saint Bernard. You will then ride your bike
to the Col.

Those with no bike will be taken directly to the Col du Petit Saint Bernard where
they will later meet the rest of the group. Altogether you will watch the
“caravane publicitaire” and the professional riders on their way to the finish line.
This last ascension might be the scene of a sportive fight as this is the last col
before the arrival in Bourg Saint Maurice. Shortly after, you will take our bus to
head to our next stop, which will be Megève.
In the evening, dinner will be waiting for you at the 3* hotel La Prairie, where you
will be staying for 2 nights.

3, 6 miles, 4, 9 %) before going to the arrival at Grand Bornand.

La Clusaz in Haute-Savoie with La Giettaz in Savoie. At 1486 m. it is the lowest pass
in the Aravis Range of mountains.
The pass is often used as part of the route in the Tour de France, and was
used recently in 2002 and 2006 races.

Grand-Bornand is a commune in France, located in the département of
Haute-Savoie and the region of Rhone-Alps. The commune is a ski resort and owes
its name to the river which runs through it. The inhabitants of Grand-Bornand
are called Bornandins. Located on the Western slope of the Aravis mountain range
not far from Mount Blanc, Annecy Lake and Switzerland, the Grand-Bornand is
a summer and winter resort which developed around an old village
After the day’s stage, you will return to the hotel by bus where a typical
traditional mountain dinner will be waiting for you.
Grand Bornand/Hotel: 21 miles
3 * Hotel la prairie at Megève
The last time trial of this 96th Tour de France will take place in an absolutely
superb setting. Theriders will race around the beautiful Annecy Lake, a distance of
45 kilometers or 28 miles.
The course the riders will follow will be flat during the beginning phase. Then,
because it borders the lake, the route evolves into a hilly and winding path on the
way back.
We hope to assist at a great finale with the final victory dispute between
Lance Armstrong, Cadel Evans and Alberto Contador.

You will leave the hotel as a group after breakfast by bike to ride the last time trial.

in the peloton, in preparation for the big day tomorrow.
After breakfast, you will leave the hotel as a group to get to the day’s route.
Those with bikes will be able to ride to the feed station while those without bikes
will be taken there directly by our bus. You will have the opportunity to see Tour

be WON or LOST.
8th victory for Lance Armstrong or consecration of another rider?

Hôtel / Carpentras: 119 miles
The start of the climb is 8.5 miles from Carpentras. It will be your warm-up
before facing the famous climb.
Those not feeling up to climbing Mt Ventoux and the non cyclists will take the bus
up to the “Chalet Reynard” and ride the last 5 km up to the summit.
Those who wish not to ride their bike will be taken by the bus to the top of the
Mont Ventoux, from where they will overlook the whole area.
The “Giant of Provence” - Mont Ventoux! This route takes you up from Bedouin:
22 km over 1912 m in altitude. This is the most famous and difficult ascent. The road
to the summit has an average grade of 7.6%.

Mont Ventoux is a mountain in the Provence region of southern France, located
some 20 km north-east of Carpentras, Vaucluse. On the north-side, the
mountain borders the Drôme département. It is the largest mountain in the region
and has been nicknamed the "Giant of Provence", or "The Bald Mountain".
As the name might suggest (venteux means windy in French), it can get windy at
the summit, especially with the mistral; wind speeds as high as 320 km/h (193 mph)
have been recorded. The road over the mountain is often closed due to high winds.
Mont Ventoux, although geologically part of the Alps, is often considered to
be separate from them, due to the lack of mountains of a similar height nearby.

the entire region and can be seen from many miles away on a clear day. The view
from the top is superb.
